As we know, the American Visa interview is the most important moment of the process. Whether you are granted the Visa or not will depend on it for the greatest part.
Thus, it is important to follow the tips listed below so that your interview is successful:
Answer the questions
The entire process may take between 2 and 3 hours. The decisive moment (with the Consular officer) may take just one minute.
You must expect questions related to the Visa you are applying for. For example, if you have applied for a Tourist Visa, you will be asked about the places you plan to visit, how you expect to pay for expenses, whether you will be visiting a family member, etc.
If you are applying for a Business Visa, you will be asked about what business you will be conducting in the U.S., how long have you been working for the company, what your position in the company is and what is your area of expertise.
In the case of the Exchange Visitor or Student Visa, your level of English will be verified. If you request the Visa for Investors, it is probably that you will be asked in depth about your business plan.
It is important to bring whatever additional documentation you may need to support the information you provide. This must be delivered only if the Consular officer asks for it. They do not have to accept it and they will only request it from you if they deem it necessary to take the decision.
Be honest
The most important thing for you to do during the interview is to answer truthfully. Using false documentation or lying to obtain the Visa is understood as committing fraud. You may be considered ineligible for a Visa for the rest of your life.
Never be disrespectful
You must not yell, insult, make demeaning remarks, complain, etc. You must not do any of that even in the cases where you may think the officer is being too strict, or even if they deny you the Visa.
There are many reasons for this, but the most important one is that all comments and behavior may be entered in the record of the applicant. This will make it difficult for you to apply for the American Visa in the future.
